Keep A Record, Be Protected
In order to be fully compensated for the contents of your dwelling in case of fire, you need to keep some form of documentation of what those contents are. A written list is ideal, but even a detailed video walkthrough can be helpful if tragedy strikes. Just remember to keep a copy of the tape off site.
Vehicle Coverage Checklists
When you get your renewal, please take time to check it over:
- Is the policy in the name of the Registered Owner of the vehicle?
- How many drivers in household?
- How many vehicles in household with correct VIN numbers?
- Are all drivers in the household listed with drivers license numbers?
- Does the vehicle commute to work? If so, how many km one way?
- Estimated distance travelled per year for each
- Do you have the coverages you want? eg. Liability and deductible amounts?
- Has the use of the vehicle changed, have you reported this to your broker?
- Is vehicle used for business (eg. real estate, salesperson)?
- Is vehicle used for commercial purposes (eg. construction, lawn cutting, snow ploughing, newspaper delivery, pizza delivery, mail delivery, farming)
- Is vehicle modified (customized) (eg. upgraded sound system, paint job, handicapped lifts etc)?
- Is the correct vehicle insured? Please check the VIN on your vehicle!
- Do you require Loss of Use?
- Do we have your homeowner insurance?
- Are you retired?
- Do your children attend school away from home?
